traqr — how we handle your data for South Africa peer-to-peer deals, disputes, and refunds

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how traqr (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, stores, and shares personal information when you use our app and services in South Africa. It should be read with our Terms & Conditions, including sections on refunds and disputes.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use traqr, we may collect:

  • Account & contact: phone number, display name, and verification codes (for example SMS PIN in South Africa).
  • Deal data: listings, messages between parties, QR or invite links, delivery or pickup details you add, and status updates.
  • Payments & risk: transaction references, amounts, payout instructions to banks where you cash out, and fraud-prevention signals from devices or networks.
  • Support & disputes: tickets, photos, tracking numbers, and other evidence you upload when you report a problem or request a refund.
  • Technical: app version, diagnostics, and similar data needed to operate and secure the service.

How we use information

We use personal information to create and secure accounts, facilitate deals and escrow flows, calculate shipping options, communicate with you, improve the product, comply with law, and enforce our Terms.

Disputes, refunds & records

If you open a dispute or request a refund, we use related messages, payment metadata, delivery proof, and images you provide to decide or assist an outcome under our Terms.

We may retain certain records for legal, tax, audit, and anti-fraud reasons after a deal closes or a refund is paid. Retention periods vary by record type and legal requirements; some logs are kept in shortened or aggregated form.

Where banks or payment partners process funds, they also process personal data under their own policies and regulatory rules.

Sharing

We share information with service providers (for example hosting, messaging, analytics, payment and payout partners, and carriers you select) only as needed to run traqr. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the platform.

Security & retention

We use administrative, technical, and organisational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure.

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including resolving disputes and meeting legal obligations, then delete or anonymise it where possible.

Your rights (South Africa)

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), where applicable, you may request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of certain processing, subject to exceptions (for example records we must keep for legal or dispute reasons).
